Abstract:
Wireless Battery Management Systems (wBMS) have emerged as a key application in the automotive industry, offering numerous advantages such as easy installation, reduced weight, and lower manufacturing costs. These systems typically employ Bluetooth technology operating in the 2.4GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band, with Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH) implemented to mitigate interference from other signals on the same band. However, despite this kind of algorithm, the system can’t always avoid interferences if there are too many wireless channels are occupied from the other devices on the same band. This paper focuses on the challenges posed by the dense deployment of various devices operating in the crowded 2.4GHz ISM band, and the requirement for the wireless BMS to operate reliably under such conditions. We present a comprehensive analysis of interference levels in a high-congestion test environment, considering factors such as shielding methods.
